  1. It seems like a real missed opportunity that @gmail weren’t able to optimize their web client to make the loading screen unnecessary in the new version, as beautiful as it is. Loading screens and app shells likely mean you’ve prioritized the JavaScript above the content.

      Without network or CPU throttling on my MacBook Pro—the @gmail loading screen shows for a full 6 seconds. Hmm, that’s not good. First useful render is still loading stuff, too 🤔 To compare, @Fastmail’s first useful render is 1.08s.
